Philweb Corp., an online casino and land gaming firm based in the Philippines, has recently released its figures, happily announcing a 28 percent rise in its 9-month profit. The firm has attributed this increase in profit to the vigorous gaming practices of players at online casinos. According to the report, Philweb’s net income posted a 28 percent increase compared to its third quarter figures last year, from P373 million in 2009 to P477 million this year. Its revenues amounted to a total of P755 million which is 30 percent more compared to the figures from January to September of last year.

Philweb also reported that it made a P921 million remittance to Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR), which is owned by the state, for the third quarter of 2010. The amount of P921 million is actually PAGCOR’s 60 percent share in Philweb’s business comprised of online casinos, internet sports netting stations, and e-Games. The posted increase in the firm’s revenues and profit is a testament to the growing popularity of the online casino business, and basically other forms of gambling and gaming, in the Philippines.

During the early part of this year, Philweb unveiled Home Play, an online casino made possible by Philweb’s partnership with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. The peso-based internet gambling offering features traditional games such as slots, roulettes, baccarat and blackjack. Home Play, however, is only accessible to Filipino players who are at least 21 years of age. Aside from the usual games, Philweb also offers a text raffle called “Instant Premyo sa Resibo”, which is made possible through its cooperation with the Philippines’ Bureau of Internal Revenue; “Basketball Jackpot”, and the mobile game “Bid Wars”.
